DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Lackawanna County Recovery Walk & Celebration\nSunday\, Sept. 24\, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.\nNay Aug Park in Scranton \nHelp us celebrate freedom from the disease of addiction!\nTHIS EVENT IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Registration will begin at 11 a.m.\, followed by the Recovery Walk at noon\, and a Celebration of Recovery starting at 1 p.m.\, which will feature music from Northeastern PA’s premier blues band\, The Merchants of Groove. There will be dozens of exhibitors and fun for the whole family\, including a bounce house\, face painter\, balloon artist\, and stilt walker. Free Naloxone and training on how to use it will also be available. The event\, which is held in coordination with National Recovery Month\, is organized by the Lackawanna Recovery Coalition\, the Recovery Bank\, the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office and the Lackawanna-Susquehanna Office of Drug & Alcohol Programs. Generous support has been provided by Beyond Addiction Treatment and Recovery Center\, Northeast Behavioral Health Care Consortium\, Dr. John G. Kuna PsyD. & Associates\, Fellowship House\, Geisinger Marworth Treatment Center\, Avenues Recovery Center of Lake Ariel\, Recovery Rises Foundation\, The Wright Center\, and Crossroads Treatment Centers. Special thanks to the City of Scranton Recreation Authority for providing the venue and Sean Bingham for providing the food.

DESCRIPTION:As part of its ongoing efforts to raise community awareness about pathways to recovery from substance use disorder\, members of the Lackawanna Recovery Coalition will be serving free takeout pasta dinners Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. at the Moosic Youth Center\, 606 Main St.\, Moosic. The drive-up event is free and open to the public. The event is being held in memory of Angelo M. Genell of Old Forge\, who lost his battle with the disease of addiction a year ago. Anyone coming to pick up dinners is asked to stay in their vehicles\, wear a mask and practice social distancing. \n
